Announcement: New York Sun, 30 January 1867, 4.

“Mr. Valentine Vousden, the eccentric mimic, who sings and dances to a dozen lively airs, and personates a dozen lively characters all by himself, will resume his Poly-national performances at Clinton Hall tonight.”

Review: New York Herald, 31 January 1867, 7.

“It does not appear to be generally known that this very clever mimic still holds forth at Clinton Hall. Las [sic] evening the audience was by no means encouraging, or at all in keeping with the merits of Mr. Vousden, who is very entertaining, and able to hold the attention of an audience for over two hours with very pleasing songs and dances characteristic of six separate nationalities, in all of which Mr. Vousden is ‘at home,’ especially in the part of Paddy Brannigan, which is as perfect a representation of the comic side of Irish character as has ever been presented on the New York boards. Mr. Vousden is well deserving of better treatment, and now that he has made arrangements securing the hall for a season it is only to be hoped that the public will avail themselves of an opportunity of witnessing the performances of one of the best of mimics on the American stage.”
