25th anniversary of Abt’s work as a composer mainly for men’s choruses on May, 14th. Some of Abt’s works are mentioned, especially the first one: “Wenn die Schwalben heimwärts ziehen,” which became world-famous and marks the day of the anniversary. Choruses on either side of the ocean are asked to acknowledge and celebrate the composer while he is still alive, so he can personally witness the honoring of his work. It is suggested that singing associations organize concerts on that occasion and donate the revenue to the cause. Choruses unable to give a concert are asked to contribute at least one Taler from their treasury. The request of a donation is also directed at individual Abt admirers. All contributions are to be sent to: Abt Anniversary Committee, J. A. Hietel Company in Leipzig. The European Associations have a deadline of May, 10th; the associations overseas have no deadline due to the short notice. All contributions will be published in the German Singing Association Magazine “Die neue Sängerhalle”, publishing company
J. B. Klein in Leipzig. Names of Committee members follow (in Germany and Switzerland)
