“The Young Men’s Association gave its tenth annual ball, in aid of the Orphan Asylum, at the Academy of Music, last evening. As at each of its predecessors, on this occasion the attendance was numerous and fashionable. The ball-room was crowded at 10 o’clock, and there was no thinning out before 3 o’clock this morning. Dancing was carried on with spirit through the night, and the fair visitors seemed never likely to tire of the gallop and waltz, rung out with inspiriting effect by Graffula’s unexceptionable band. Among those present…Altogether, the affair was worthy of being ranked among the most brilliant reunions of the season, and all who were present are certain to remember it as the occasion of much unalloyed pleasure.”
