“The complimentary benefit tendered by many of our most prominent citizens and professional men to Mr. W. S. Andrews, late of the Winter Garden, came off last evening at this theatre, and proved a most magnificent success. The house was crowded to its utmost capacity, and the whole affair was a splendid recognition of that gentleman’s worth and talent. The entertainment comprised the comedy of Our American Cousin and the burletta of Jenny Lind, both of which pieces were admirably rendered, with Mr. Andrews sustaining leading parts in each.”
