The German Men’s Chorus Arion has sent a certificate for the composer Franz Abt with the last German steamboat, which announces that Abt was unanimously elected honorable [honorary] member at the last general meeting on April 16th, 1867. This was awarded in acknowledgement of his service to the arts, and as a founder and supporter of the German men’s choral music. The text was written by Carl Wellenau in black and gold script on a background of pergamont paper depicting a sun. In addition, the Arion will contribute $1,000 to the donation fund in honor of Abt’s anniversary.
