“Birch, Wambold, Bernard, and Backus continue to cater successfully for the public; and the neat little hall in which they and their troupe nightly perform continues to be crowded by fashionable audiences.  The performance last evening was in every respect good.  The first part of the programme comprises some very sweet ballads, one sung by D. S. Wambold, and another by C. Templeton being the gems.  The second part is full of very laughable burnt cork extravaganzas and excellent terpsichorean exercises.”

“As well as the San Francisco Minstrels perform the balance of their programmes we can compliment them heartily upon the thorough manner in which they equip their burlesques.  The songs, burlesques and single acts embrace some of the best found in minstrelsy.”
