“There was a full house and a splendid performance at this establishment last evening.  The end men, Christy and Boyce, were fully up to all the points of their business, and their novel variations of old routine and their fresh jokes and grotesque antics kept the house in a perpetual roar.  Among other novelties in last evening’s performance was the presentation to the clog dancers of the establishment, Messrs. Hughes and Hogan, of two massive gold medals, each bearing the single inscription, ‘Excelsior.’ These were the gifts of a committee of lady admirers. Manager Griffin made the presentation speech, and Mr. Hughes responded gracefully in a few well chosen words. The affair was a very pleasing feature of the performance, and was loudly endorsed by the audience.”
