“An open air entertainment has been inaugurated at the corner of Fifty-ninth street and Sixth avenue, which bids fair to be largely patronized by the neighboring inhabitants. The performance at the Central Park Amphitheatre is of a varied character, although more prominence is given to rope walking than with other features of the entertainment. Madame Celestine, the ‘great Australian rope walker,’ and Henry Leslie, not the singer, but the ‘hero of Niagara,’ performs every afternoon and evening, and there is a full band in attendance.”
