“This theatre offers as great a variety of amusements as can be well crowded into an evening. It continues to advertise ‘new novelties,’ like the London publisher whose edition of ‘Last Words of Richard Baxter,’ met with such a ready sale that he advertised ‘More Last Words of Richard Baxter.’ Johnny Thompson is still the leading card, and Mlle. Zuccoli, of Black Crook celebrity, is the star of the ballet. The house is nightly thronged with spectators, and this week has increased its popularity by a bill of alarming length, in which every possible and impossible branch of music and the drama is presented.”
