. A new pamphlet called “Kleine Musikzeitung” [“Little Music Paper”], which is dedicated to the music store J. Schubert & Co., mentions in its edition of the 18th of the month that a new amateur orchestra is needed, because J. Schuberth was not able to accomplish even with genuine effort for the existing amateur orchestra of the Liederkranz what is so essential: unity.
This claim is completely false. We regret that the new paper uses wrong information for its first publications, because clearly this is not a healthy direction for a new paper. The Liederkranz amateur orchestra exists since two years and will soon prove again how harmonious it is. The ‘little paper’ officially costs nothing; however, the subscribers will have to compensate by buying musical goods in the publication’s store, which in the end costs them twice the amount that our subscribers pay for our magazine ($8.00 as compared to $4.00). We rather give our readers the choice where to by their musical material. (…)
