“Two hours and a half can be most pleasantly passed at Tony Pastor’s Opera House, for here every branch of the profession is represented. Those who are fond of dancing will find a most excellent corps de ballet, several of whom are clever solo dancers. Ethiopianism is well represented by Johnny Wild, Billy Shepherd, Johnny Collins and Billy Emmet, all of whom are good performers as well as favorites with the audience. The saw dust profession is represented by David Hawley, who is a clever gymnast. Tony Pastor and Jennie Engel vocalize to the great delight of all, as each one is called out from four to five times each evening, Tony does the comic, Jenny the sentimental. If the auditor is not satisfied with this, he can witness a drama or burlesque, as one is presented each week.”
