Just a mention in a list of matinees. “[T]he Philharmonic Society rehearsed for their last concert at Steinway Hall.”

“Heard Mozart’s noble ‘Jupiter’ Symphony rehearsed by the Philharmonic Sat. aftn. Rehearsal was open to criticism. I thought the 3rd and 4th movements taken much too slow. But I doubt if there be anything in all Music so perfectly pure perfect, and translucent. Especially the 2nd or 3rd movements. The symphony is less intense than some of Beethoven’s, but it is ‘one entire and perfect chrysolite.’”
