“The comedy Les Petites Mains, without being one of Labiche’s best, is very amusing. It was played Saturday, with much liveliness, by MM. Edgard, Scribot, Francis and Deligne, especially by the first-mentioned. Mlles Caruel and Thorey contributed in large part to the excellent performance of this work.
The success of the evening was the Camp des Revoltees, and above all for a cancan, very modest after all, danced by the rebellious wives. Mlle Dembrun, who was full of animation during the entire piece, danced alone and got a universal encore. Her female companions could have put a bit more vivacity into this quadrille, which is only as lively as the steps of the dancers are free. Mme Daire triumphantly played the role of the president of the club, and M. Deligne, dressed as a woman, made the whole place die with laughter.”
