“If these minstrels are really Pacific minstrels they attract anything but pacific audiences, to judge from the roars and laughter and loud applause with which the singing, dancing, jokes, burlesques, extravagances and fun generally of the troupe were received last evening by a well filled house. The great Shadow pantomime has been revived by these minstrels, and proves very attractive, while the excellent singing is alone sufficient to crowd their snug, comfortable theatre.  There is a fair diversity in the programme every evening.”

“Bobby Newcomb has made a favorable impression upon the patrons of the San Francisco Minstrels by his neat and peculiar style of executing a song and dance. This young man was formerly known in this city as Master Bobby, and then was a good performer. He accompanied Rumsey & Newcomb’s Minstrels to England, and after an absence of several years returned to this country as Robert Hughes, and in years a man. Since his arrival here he has made the song and dance business a feature, and having been in company with Billy Emerson, the great song and dance man, he has become a most excellent performer. Business with this company continues excellent.”
