“The neat and compact theatre of the San Francisco Minstrels was crowded last evening with an enthusiastic and fashionable audience. The programme was long and varied, bringing out the whole strength and best points of the company. Wambold, Birch, Backus and other favorites appeared to appreciate the fact that Thanksgiving Eve was a time for an extra share of enjoyment, so from the rising of the curtain until it fell with the disappearance of the ‘Falling Stars’ they put forth their best efforts to repay the hearty applause their many capital bits elicited. The programme embraced comic colloquies, sentimental ballads, intricate clog dances, lively music, and several novelties in the shape of meteoric showers, all of which were favorably received by the audience, and elicited much applause and several encores.”
