“Mr. and Mrs. Howard Paul enter the second week of their extraordinarily successful engagement at Irving Hall this evening. The bill has been changed, affording fine opportunity for a full display of the versatile talent of both artistes. This evening and every evening during the week, except Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Doubledot, a quarrelsome couple, with comic duets, a remarkable double personation, originated by Mrs. Howard Paul, and now introduced by her for the first time here, will be presented. Mrs. Paul will appear as Simms Reeves, singing the ballads, ‘Come into the Garden, Maude,’ and ‘My Pretty Jane.’ Mr. Paul will personate Napoleon the Third in the History of Julius Caesar. Several droll songs, with some very fine old ballads, will be given in conclusion.”

Mr. and Mrs. Howard have not been very successful with their show, but will be as soon as the prospective audience knows more about them. Although this event displays little taste, we believe the comedy aspect of it will be attractive to some people.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul must feel lonesome at Irving Hall, for few people keep their company, and by St. Paul the work goes not bravely on. The entertainments offered by this couple are not calculated to please an American audience, however meritorious they may be considered in England.”
