“The recently organized Suavian Liederkranz, a German musical and amateur dramatic organization composed of about sixty members, inaugurated their new theatre of Pythagoras Hall, in Canal street, last night. The theatre is neatly arranged, and will seat about two hundred persons. The performance last night was a three act comedy, entitled Das Wundermadchen aus der Alpen (The Wonderful Girl of the Alps.) The principal characters were sustained by Madame Stein and Messrs. Nagel, Eberhard, Madame Stock and Miss Torger. The piece was rather light in plot, but contained some perplexing situations which seemed to afford full scope for the efforts of amateur performers.”
The “Schwäbische Liederkranz,” which was founded only recently and already has very accomplished members, has erected a stage at Pythagoras Hall. It was inaugurated by a dramatic performance of the “Liederkranz Verein.” The auditorium holds about 200 people and the stage is tasteful and practical…
