The Lyra men’s chorus had to cancel their Sunday commerce gathering due to the Sunday Law (“excise law”) that forbids selling alcohol and transporting any goods that are not necessary for living. The chorus was prepared for avoiding selling liquor by arranging to offer drinks free of charge. However, they were not aware of the transportation law. The precinct police captain of the area has been reinforcing the laws adamantly since the law was passed. He has kept his eye on the Germans from the beginning.
