The gathering was for the purpose of reminiscing about the great Sängerfest  that had recently been held in Philadelphia. The Liederkranz Hall was decorated in a festive fashion with banners and garlands. The choruses sang a few songs, several speeches were held, and the cozy party went on into the morning hours.
