“The commemoration of the birthday of Germany’s great dramatic genius, Schiller, took place at the Academy last evening. The regal Fanny Janauschek very fittingly presided at the entertainment sacred to the memory of one of the monarch’s [sic] of the intellect. The performances included Die Carlsschueler, Cabal und Liebe, Don Carlos, &c. The public spirit of the children of Fatherland appealed to in the name of Schiller was vindicated on the occasion by the throng that filled the Academy.”
