“KELLY AND LEON’S MINSTRELS re-opened at their minstrel hall on July 29, to one of the largest audiences they ever appeared before in the same building. During their absence the hall has been handsomely fitted up in the way of new carpets on the parquet and orchestra floors, four rows of chairs in the orchestra handsomely upholstered, the scenery touched up, and the auditorium freshly painted. In front of the hall several rows of gas jets have been put up, making a brilliant and inviting appearance. The long entrance to the hall is decorated with lithographs of prominent professionals. The company on the rising of the curtain were well received. Add Ryman did fairly on the end, and his stump speech was quite laughable. Business was excellent throughout the week. We cannot say that the company or the entertainments offered during the past week equaled those of last season.”
