Concert: Friedrich Schwan Benefit

The benefit performance for Mr. Schwan at Dramatic Hall had good attendance despite the inclement weather. The actor was honored for the years of dedication to his art and the German Stadt-Theater. The plays originally planned for performance had to be cancelled, because Miss Irschick was hoarse. Instead of “Ich werde mir den Major einladen” [I will invite the Major for me”] and “Wenn Frauen weinen” [“When women weep”], “Hans und Hanne” and another short play was performed without much preparation. Miss Schmitz played and sang the “Hanne” excellently, better than we have ever seen her before.
