“For the matinée at the Academy of Music on Saturday Don Pasquale was performed, with Ronconi in his great comic character of the Don. His performance was altogether inimitable and kept the house in a continual roar of laughter. He was seconded very ably by Bellini as Dr. Malatesta, and very inefficiently indeed by his daughter as Norina, and Baragli as Ernesto. The young lady acted her part very well; but her voice is entirely unequal to the requirements of a prima donna.”
