R: GTS 02/28/63 - "To Philharmonic rehearsal at Irving Hall. Mozart's C-major (alias 'Jupiter') Symphony. I wanted to see what effect a large orchestra and clear melodic music of the highest order would produce on  G. T. S., Jr., who has always seemed peculiarly sensitive to musical influences. We staid to the end of the 3rd movement; the fourth was altogether beyond his grasp; the fourth was altogether beyond his grasp, and besides I had to go back to 823. The mercurial fidgety little creature sat and listened with rapt attention--recognized phrases from the 1st Allegro that he had heard from his maman on the piano, or spelt out by me on the organ, & says he wants to hear it all again very much.”
