Articles on changes in the New Yorker Allgemeiner Sängerbund

“The New Yorker Allgemeine Sängerbund has its regular meetings every Sunday morning at the Germania Assembly Hall. We recently reported about the plans for re-organization of this collective chorus society. In the follow-up today we are gladly able to report that the efforts have been successful. Another large chorus has joined, the Uhland Bund. The president of the organization, Mr. Hundt, opened up the discussion today with an important question about whether to join the chorus Society of the East (Ostsängerbund). Information about the results of this discussion will be published in a later edition. Further, a delegation was formed to inform choruses which are not a member of this organization, about the advantages of joining. The delegates are Hundt, Meiling, Schneider, Stoppel, and Taucke. They have a difficult task and we acknowledge their good intention and courage. Unfortunately there were also a few members who used strong language in criticizing the other chorus unions. This attitude can only create a lack of trust and openness with the ‘much stronger opponent,’ which is hardly inviting.”
