“The Summer evening concerts, which Mr. Theodore Thomas made so attractive at Terrace Garden, were, in a measure, resumed on the opening of Lyric Hall on Friday evening last. This new place of amusement, situated opposite Reservoir Park, is just in the midst of a music-loving population, and the character of the music which constituted the opening programme, alternating the merrier and lighter dance airs with the grander pieces for more intellectual enjoyment, is just the kind to make Lyric Hall and Mr. Thomas’ Winter Concerts as popular and worthy as those which became so widely known at Terrace Garden. The second of these entertainments was given last evening, and was largely attended. Lyric Hall is a convenient, pretty and cozy place, and will doubtless become a standard place among the local amusements.”
