“The operetta ‘Das Mädchen-Pensionat’ by Suppée was not as well-done as usual with L’Arronge as director. We are not clear if it was not well-rehearsed this time or if the management of the theater interfered. Maybe Mrs. L’Arronge-Surry’s smaller part than usual led to less attention of the audience. She is a brilliant and also intelligent performer and thus always attracts people to come and see her play. Even in this small part she was thoroughly prepared and performed it with deep understanding. She is a true gem of purest skill who could be much more successful if she had been introduced to the audience in a grander fashion and also would be more recognized by the management as an extraordinary artist. The operetta did not get the attention it certainly had deserved.”
