Mr. JEROME HOPKINS’ concert in behalf of the Orpheon Schools, Tuesday evening, at this hall, had a large audience. Sig. SALCEDO’S performance of DE BERIOT’S fifth concerto for the cornet, the two arias—‘Sweet Spirit,’ by WALLACE, and GRAHAM’S ‘Farewell’—and Miss ELLA BURNS’ recitations were the best applauded pieces in the programme. Miss BURNS is a charming little reader; her manner is entirely natural, and her method is devoid of most of those conventional gestures and tricks of the voice which make public speaking by the precocious so often painful. She recited WILLIS’ ‘Parrhasius’ and READE’S ‘Sheridan’s Ride.’  ”
