“A small but select audience attended Mr. Sigmund Herrmann’s Concert at Steck Hall, last evening. Signora de Bosio, Mr. Ignatz Pollak, and Mr. Wenzel Kopta were the principal attractions. The entertainment was a choice one, and was duly appreciated by the audience. The singing of Mr. Pollak was especially noteworthy.”

Due to bad weather, only a small but refined audience attended. Although Herrmann is no virtuoso on the piano, he did satisfy the audience and received warm applause. Kopta performed with the usual skill. Dora Ziegler’s and Pollack’s songs were the highlights of the evening, although the accompaniment was insecure and clumsy. Two new grand pianos from the George Steck & Co, company were introduced at this concert. The sound was pleasant and attractive. Despite the largeness of the instruments, the sound was even and beautiful throughout the entire register. The also visually-beautiful instruments were much admired.
