“The programme states that it is presented as danced at the Soirees au Jardin Mabille, but the description we have had of the style in which it is given there is entirely different from that witnessed the past week. There it is the fashion to have a short man and a tall lady dance together, and the point where the laugh comes in is the lady kicking the gentleman’s chapeau from his cranium which is repeated several times. At Tony’s, Szollosy and Adie Le Brue did the dance, and we cannot commend too highly the style in which Adie did the kicking—executing it in as modest a manner as possible. The ballet divertissement which precedes is very cleverly arranged and well executed by ladies of the ballet.”
