It is unfortunate that the script for “Klaas Ehlers” is rather flat. It was written to highlight the lead role, which was performed well. Rethwisch excelled also in “Der Kapellmeister von Venedig,” namely he impressed with his singing voice. He was well supported by Miss Haffner and Mr. Lange.
