“Amusements. San Francisco Minstrels.—Birch Wambold, Bernard and Backus have a new dramatis, named August Weekly, to furnish them with side-splitting burlesques. His latest effort is called ‘Under the Kerosene Lamp,’ and the celebrated Lorrell [sic] Sisters are in the cast. The express train in the piece is run on the high pressure principle of fun and causes the audience to burst with laughter every night.”

“It is a very laughable burlesque on ‘Under the Gaslight,’ containing, as it does, the salient features of the drama.”

“‘Under the Kerosene Lamp,’ produced at the San Francisco Minstrel Hall the past week, is continued for the current week. It is a very laughable burlesque on ‘Under the Gaslight.’ Containing, as it does, the salient features of the drama. The railroad scene is capitally taken off by the Frisco boys, and taken altogether, the burlesque is full of fun, and keeps the audience in the best of good humor.”
