Long article comparing Grau’s Italian Opera and Anschutz’s German Opera, touting Grau’s as disappointment and Anschutz’s a success.  “[Anschütz] is one of the few conscientious musicians that we can boast of, and gives the works of his repertoire complete.  He does not cut out the principal part of an opera to adapt it to his resources, nor does he patch up old scenes and pretend that they are new.  To see a little opera at his house is like gazing upon an ivory miniature; it is complete, artistic and pleasing, but on a small plan.  Who would not prefer this to the broad daub of a scene-painter?”
