Review: New York Herald, 18 March 1868.

“Mr. Chanfrau in his inimitable character of ‘Sam’ continues to draw splendid houses at the Broadway. The public would seem never to tire of this most amusing and singular personation of the Americanized lord, who possesses all the peculiarities of live, dashing Young America grafted on the English swell.  His quaint points tell capitally, and the audience never fails to honor them with hearty and enthusiastic applause. Mr. Parsloe is exceedingly clever in the character he personates and makes it one of the decided features of the piece. Mr. Chanfrau is ably supported by the excellent company, and the piece would not fail to draw for many weeks to come were it not to give place to a new comedy written for Mr. Chanfrau, which will be presented next week.”
