“The fifth Sunday concert at Steinway Hall last night introduced Miss Alida Topp, the celebrated pianist, who played a ‘Valse Etude,’ by Raff, a very uninteresting compositions, which in any other hands would prove a failure, and Liszt’s well known transcription of the Indian march from ‘L’Africaine.’ Miss Topp’s admirable playing drew in each instance an overwhelming encore. Ardavani sang a ‘Pieta signor’ in superb style, and Madame Gazzaniga was warmly received in the ‘Mio Fernando’ from ‘Favorita.’  The orchestra played three numbers of Gluck’s ‘Paris et Hélène’ ‘Mid summer Night’s Dream,’ overture to ‘Dr. [sic] Freichutz,’ and the ‘Persian March,’ by Strauss, in its usual satisfactory manner.”

“The twenty-fifth Sunday concert at this establishment, last evening, attracted the customary brilliant attendance. Mme. Gazzaniga and Signor Ardavani were the vocalists, and sang excellently. Miss Alide Topp was the pianist, and acquitted herself brilliantly. We lack space to dwell at further length on this fine entertainment.”
