“So long as Kelly & Leon’s Minstrel Hall continues to be as crowded as it has been ever since the first night of the ‘Grand Dutch S,’ there is no possible chance of seeing her Dutch highness removed from the bills of the evening. Nothing in the Ethiopian burlesque line that has been produced in this city has excelled this, the latest production of Leon, who never appeared to greater advantage. The rôle of the Duchess is one that Leon has written expressly to suit his talents as an impersonator of female characters, and the sparkling music of the opera Leon gives to the delight of all present. The costumes are very handsome, and the production of this burlesque has been attended with much expense. We are pleased to see that the managers are rewarded by crowded houses.”
