The event attracted a large audience. The amateur orchestra impressed with the performance of Schubert’s C Major Symphony. If the orchestra stays on its path, it will soon be a credit to the concerts. The men’s chorus sang Beschnitt’s piece with the usual precision and beautiful expression. The women’s choruses’ performance of Reineke’s piece was very insecure. Max Bruch’s unfamiliar piece “Schön Ellen” had a few attractive sections in it; however, Bruch mostly relies on using less quality-based effects in all of his compositions. We heard this song is a favorite of the chorus and will therefore stay in the repertory. Both soloists did well.
