Review: New York Clipper, 18 April 1868, 14.

“There is nothing new to write this week about the San Francisco Minstrels. A number of their most popular and attractive acts continue on the programme, including Backus’ very clever imitations of some of the most popular actors and actresses of the day. David Wambold has resumed his place in the quartet and sings a ballad in the olio, although suffering with a sore throat. Business is good with this company and the burlesque of ‘Under the Kerosene Lamp’ affords sufficient fun to send the audience home in good humor.”
