“Amusements. Musical. Miscellaneous Concerts…Signor Antonio Barili, a well-known teacher of singing, gave two concerts at the same establishment on Tuesday and Thursday last. The artists were distinguished amateurs, pupils of the Professor. The programme was peculiar, being made up entirely of pieces selected from Signor Barili's ‘Vocal Album for 1868.’ Of these compositions it is sufficient to say that they display a happy invention, an excellent knowledge of musical form, abundant melody and a flowing, taking rhythm. They are thoroughly Italian, and will, we doubt not, become popular.”
