“I went by 4th Ave. car to Trinity Church for the Sermon before the graduating class . . . the Music (for which I was responsible) was thought effective. We had ‘How lovely are the Messengers that bring us the Gospel of Peace’ (Mendelssohn) for Anthem—a fine piece of irony considering its implied reference to sixty nascent attornies [sic]. Also the Gloria of Mozart’s No. 12. Church was fairly full, and the attendance of the class larger than usual.”
