Announcement: New York Clipper, 05 September 1868, 174.

“The Diorama representing Lincoln’s funeral ceremonies from Washington to the cemetery in Springfield, Ill., taking in the points of interest in Baltimore, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Jersey City, New York, Albany, Buffalo, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago and Springfield, unrolls at Irving Hall on Wednesday evening, Sept. 2d, instead of this evening, as intended, the mechanical effects not yet being in good working trim.”

Review: New York Clipper, 12 September 1868, 182.

“The Diorma and Panorama of President Lincoln’s funeral was exhibited for the first time to the public on the 2d inst., at Irving Hall. The attendance was quite large, and the different points of interest exhibited were heartily applauded. That portion of the panorama referring to New York is so full of anachronisms that it would take more space than we can spare to point them all out. Loew bridge [sic] is represented crowded with people viewing the procession. Loew bridge [sic] was not built at that time. The Herald building is also presented, and this was not erected at the time.” Goes on to enumerate many more inaccuracies in the diorama. Criticizes that several businesses paid to have their establishments represented in the diorama (especially along Broadway, on which the diorama depicts the procession).
