“The Bowery theatre [sic] is monopolizing at present all the east side patronage, all the other ‘shows’ and theatres in that classic locality having closed their doors. An attractive bill of burlesque, pantomime and drama is offered for the present week, and ‘La Bowery Helene’ will be ‘continued until further notice.’”

“A very interesting reception is to be given this evening to ‘Mr. Jem Ward,’ the ex-champion of England, at the Bowery Theatre. There is to be some complimentary sparring—and probably some international knocks will be playfully exchanged. The ex-champion will be introduced to our national [illeg.] artists, to the audience, and his transatlantic friends generally—and this charming interchange of civilities will be preluded and followed by some less civil but more professional entertainments, in which the Buislay Family, a pantomime troupe, and Mr. Eph. Horn and Mr. Nelse Seymour will take part.”

“The variety usually given here is well kept up by the gymnastic Buislay family, the Butler pantomime troupe, and Ben Wheeler, the Irish vocalist.”
