“The Bowery Theatre offers an excellent programme to its patrons for the present week. The new Irish drama of A Dark Hour Before Day, which has been placed upon the stage at a great expense, will form the first part of the evening’s entertainment and will be followed by the standard Bowery drama of the Forest of Bondy, in which latter ‘trained dogs’ will assume the principal roles.”

“The Irish drama entitled The Dark Hour Before Day, or The Black Craig of Wicklow was played last night at this theatre to a crowded audience. The piece is cast in the mould of The Peep of Day and contains many good points. The dialogue is rich in telling hits and flows evenly through the piece. The principal characters were well sustained and the audience testified their gratification by frequent rounds of applause. When the curtain fell on this drama a song and dance prepared the way for the concluding representation, The Forest of Bondy, which was very well received.”
