“The San Francisco troupe is equally prosperous [as Bryants’].  A success so continuous and well sustained says more than can be expressed in mere words of praise.”

“There are three minstrel organizations in the field and all doing a good business for this season of the year.  The San Francisco Minstrels continue in favor with the public and attract to their hall each evening delighted audiences.  Very little change is made in the programme offered from one week to another, but so long as the public is satisfied to see the same old acts we presume the management are willing to continue the same bill of fare.  Bobby Newcomb has become quite a favorite with the habitués and in his songs and dances is encored each evening three to four times.”
