Review: New-Yorker Staats-Zeitung und Herold, 04 August 1863, 8.

"Unfortunately, in regards to hopes there is often only one true saying: ‘aufgeschoben ist so gut wie aufgehoben’ [‘postponed is as good as canceled’], was brilliantly disproved by the New-Yorker Liedertafel Sommernachtsfest held last night in this venue, which was not able to take place on Monday eight days ago due to bad weather conditions. Additionally, this festival was very well attended. The lectures of the Music Corps, as well as the festive and other participating clubs, found and earned undivided applause; in particular the excellently sung ‘Trinkcor’ from ‘Jüdin,’ Abt’s ‘Gruss an Deutschland,’ and ‘Im Wald’ by Möering [sic]."
