“The ‘Grande Duchess’ still reigns at this favorite establishment, and the Worrell Sisters are nightly received with undiminished favor. Miss Sophie is decidedly the best actress and takes the best part. This is her most ambitious attempt, and success has rewarded her hard study of the character she interprets so faithfully. Miss Jennie and Miss Irene are not as happy as their elder sister, for in this piece they have not an equal chance, but they are young and can afford to wait for the due development of the real ability they possess. The piece is played every night and at matinee on Saturday.”

“The English adaptation of the ‘Grand Duchess’ by Ben. Baker continues to be the attraction offered at the ‘Worrell Sisters’ Theatre, and the attendance the past week was very good considering the season of the year. But it should be borne in mind that this theatre is, excepting Niblo’s Garden, the coolest and best ventilated of any on Broadway, and while it is extremely close in the other places it is comfortable at this establishment. Sophie looks charming as the Duchess and her singing is deservedly applauded each evening. Without any exception it is Sophie’s best performance.”
