“The popular Tony made a very successful and profitable “Tour Round the World” last week, illustrating his extraordinary adventures by a fine panorama. Larry Magee, the Irish carman, will doubtless continue to attract large audiences while Johnny Thompson, T. G. Riggs, Miss Le Brun, and Miss Seidler will remain stars in the firmament of Tony’s Opera House. The bill of fare last night was very good, but it is to be regretted that the worn-out jokes and worn-out singers of Canterbury Hall and the London Oxford are considered essential requisites in catering for the public. Genuine American humor, or Irish or German fun is more acceptable to American audiences than the idiotic nonsense of second rate London so-called comic singers.”

“Amy Bennett, a late arrival from England, made her debut at this house on the 17th inst., as a serio comic vocalist, and met with a favorable reception. Business continues first rate at this house, so much so that when nearly every other place in town has a poor house Tony has a good attendance.”
