Bryants’ Minstrels have made a great hit in their new achievement “Genevieve de Bryant,” while their adaptation of “Il Trovatore” is truly comical.

“The ever fresh and original Bryant has given to the public a most excellent travestie on the Genevieve de Brabant and a capital burlesque on Il Trovatore as Christmas offerings. A large audience assembled last night to witness “Genevieve de Brabant,” and if constant and hearty applause may at any time be taken as an indication of popular approval certainly the performance last night was abundantly relished. Dan Bryant and Nelse Seymour as “The Gendarmes,” if not as artistic, are certainly as amusing as the famous pair at Grau’s. The past week has been a profitable one at this popular place of amusement, and there is every indication that this week and every week while “Genevieve” [“The Gendarmes”] lasts will be equally fruitful in greenbacks.”
