“The San Francisco Minstrels are giving one of the best entertainments in the burnt cork line that has been witnessed in this city for a long time, and their hall is largely attended every evening. The performers work well together and the result is that what they do gains favor with their audiences. The quintet is an excellent one and it would be a matter of no small difficulty to find three such voices as those of Wambold, Scott and Templeton. The singing of ‘Oh! Kiss Me Again,’ by Mr. Wambold, was a musical treat seldom enjoyed. The sympathetic characters of the singer’s voice added greatly to the pathos and sweetness of the song itself.”
