“During the present week they will appear in ‘Barbe-Bleue’ and ‘La Belle Helene,’ making up in quantity what these reproductions may lack in quality. The WORRELL Sisters are talented and attractive ladies, but opera bouffe cannot be translated to the English stage. Burlesque, pure and simple, is much more in their way. They are fortunate in selecting for their next essay the most successful burlesque of the day.”
“The addition of one act of ‘La Belle Helene’ to the previous program of ‘Barber Bleue,’ both in a burlesque form, attracted a large audience last evening to this theater, which under proper management, will doubtless speedily attain its former popularity. The Misses Worrell—Sophie, Jennie, and Irene—of course sustained the leading rôles, and it is needless to say their respective interpretations constituted the principal attraction. The merits of the Sisters Worrell have ere this been favorably referred to, and it is only necessary to add that their usual vivacity, archness, and adaptability to the characters represented were rewarded with a compliment of bouquets, enhanced by well merited applause.”
